For this week’s photo I wanted to imitate the style of photographer Luisa Brimble. Brimble is a food and lifestyle photographer, the founder of The Alphabet Journal, and her photography has been featured many times in Kinfolk Magazine. Her typical food photos involves ‘flatlay’ styling, hands with a purpose (e.g. grabbing something), and inviting foods and colours.

When approaching this idea I wanted to use natural and colourful elements, and I had a lot of fun styling this image and tried to make sure it looked like everything had a place and purpose. In editing I cropped it to the right format, sharpened the image and increased the contrasts. I also desaturated the image slightly, as I feel that represents Brimble’s style (see below).

I really enjoyed taking this photo and feel like this is a style I would love to focus on for my further photography adventures. If I was to take this shot again I would remove some of the flowers that have ‘shedded’ a bit after being moved around during styling.
