“Maritime”

I tried many different subject matters for the panorama shot and found this one of the WA Maritime Museum to be the one with most character and personality. It is a stitching of six different shots that were taken around 9am on a cloudy day. In editing I made it black and white using desaturation, as I found it suited the industrial look of the port, museum and ships. I further sharpened the image and used brushes to make the contrasts in the sky more prevalent, and attempted to improve the tones using levels.
I really like the industrial feel, the angle of the port and the light coming through the sky. If I was to take this photo again I would probably use a smaller aperture to capture more details of the ships and the Maritime Museum. I also would’ve liked to attempt to take a HDR panorama, as I think this technique would be able to better capture the details of the Maritime Museum and ships. Overall I had heaps of fun taking panoramas, and am really excited to know this technique and what you can do with it.
