“Yerrigan”
- Shot on a Nikon d40 by the Swan River in North Fremantle
- Aperture: f/10
- ISO: 200
- Shutter speed: 13.0
I approached this photo with a plan of finding the best view of the river before the sun actually set. The photo was taken at around 6.15pm, and the sun had just set down under the horizon, creating a beautiful colour in the sky.
I used a low ISO (my camera only goes to 200) to reduce noise, and a sturdy tripod to allow for the longer shutter speed. I also took advantage of a fill flash to ensure I got the details of the rocks and riverbank in the front of the photo. In editing in Camera RAW I have enhanced the clarity and colours, and used adjustment brushes to highlight the riverbank.
This is one of my favourite photos, as I’m very happy with the subject matter, the colours and the lighting. I am however curious if it would have been possible to take some shots a bit later in the night, capturing the night sky and stars, to add an extra dimension to photo.
