“Larus”
- Shot on a Nikon d40 at Leighton Beach
- Aperture: f/5.6
- ISO: 200
- Shutter speed: 1/500
I went down to the beach with the intention to get some great action shots of the wind surfers, however, by the time I go down there many were in the process of packing up and the few photos I got just didn’t feel right. But this photo of the flying seagull (Larus in latin) that I took later does. I really like the colours, the contrasts, and the rumbling, blurry water under the sharp gull.
In editing I made the photo clearer and the blue colours in the ocean more predominant. I selected the seagull to make its colours different from the ocean, and for the grey, white and black stand out.
In the future I would explore further with aperture, shutter speed and ISO to see what effects I could get, and if I could possibly make the ocean more blurry.
