“Market Morning”

I took many photos this week, however I found the photos that had people in them were the most interesting to look at. I stumbled upon this photo opportunity when I was out for an early morning coffee. Walking past Galati I loved the look of the grocer, how the light falls through the blinds and the nonnas in their dresses, hunting for the perfect vegetables.

In editing I decided to make it black and white because I think the photo becomes a bit ‘timeless’, and ‘placeless’ as well. I also had to underexpose the photo in Camera RAW to make the photo’s details more prevalent.

As this is the first photo in the portfolio I believe there are things I could have done better. For instance the photo was quite overexposed before editing, and I also wish I could’ve taken some more shots. However, I’m excited to get more confident with the manual settings and get to understand what settings are most appropriate for certain photos.
