“Laundromachine”

I’ve been wanting to take a photo of this laundromat since I started Digital Photography, and I thought it fitted well with this week’s keyword as it is a room full of machines. I like laundromats as I’ve spent many hours in them, and I find it to be quite timeless and placeless.
This laundromat is a bit of an awkward space due to the shape of the room and the placement of the machines, so I settled on this angle. I find the person in the photo adds drama and show what a routine it has become to use these machines. I edited the photo in Camera RAW and Photoshop where I desaturated it to black and white, made the contrast stronger and edited out the Wonder Woman graphic hanging on the wall, as I thought it added clutter (as well as a specific time period).
If I was to take this photo again I would explore more with the space and try to get a better angle of the wall of washing machine. However, I am very pleased with the photo and the contrast in colour of the different washing machine, and the subject matter overall.
